In November, our Annual Team Fam Trip brought together five team members for an insightful journey across the Maltese Islands. The trip provided valuable opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and strengthen our professional connections. From island exploration and culinary discoveries to hotel visits and spa experiences, each agent gained a unique perspective. The following highlights reflect their individual experiences throughout the trip.
Gozo – Merv Bates

This was my first visit to Gozo, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I absolutely loved it.
Quieter than its big sister Malta, Gozo is full of beautiful honey-coloured buildings, many of which date back generations and are passed down within the same families. Traditional houses here are rarely put up for sale, which adds to the island’s sense of history and continuity.
Gozo is perfect for a tranquil escape. With its picturesque landscapes, ancient temples like Ġgantija, stunning coastlines with crystal-clear waters ideal for diving, historic sites such as Cittadella, and charming villages, the island offers a greener, quieter, and more traditional Maltese experience. It’s ideal for anyone seeking beauty, history, and a peaceful rural life away from the crowds.
One of my personal highlights was visiting a traditional band club. These are usually attached to a local church and serve as a social hub where locals meet friends, enjoy a drink, or sit down to a fantastic meal at very reasonable prices. We had some of the best food of the trip there. I opted for a steak and ale pie absolutely huge, something Desperate Dan himself would order! I did manage to finish it… but dessert was definitely off the table.
I would absolutely return to Gozo when visiting Malta again — and with the fast ferry, getting there couldn’t be easier.
Verdala Hotel Rabat Malta– Hayley Backley

From the moment you arrive at Verdala, the welcome is warm and genuine, with lovely staff setting the tone for a truly relaxing stay. Walking into the large open lobby, you’re greeted by stunning views and a subtle spa-like scent that instantly calms the senses.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. Mine featured a huge walk-in shower and a striking fully round freestanding bath, while the bed was one of the most comfortable, I’ve ever slept in. The balconies are generously sized, all furnished with seating or lounge sofas, and some even include private hot tubs.
Verdala Hotel & Spa Wellness Center- Louise Seymour

We returned to the Verdala Hotel & Spa to enjoy its beautiful wellness centre. We were given cosy dressing gowns to relax in, and the spa offered plenty to explore—saunas, a thermal suite with a salt cave, a hammam, an infrared sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. There were also an indoor cave pool and an outdoor infinity pool.
Beyond the water facilities, the centre includes a fitness studio, yoga and Pilates spaces, meditation areas, consultation rooms for IV and physio therapy, and a wide range of holistic treatments such as deep-tissue massages, body wraps, and aromatherapy. The spa is high class and deeply relaxing, with modern and beautiful facilities that make it easy to switch off completely. Combined with attentive service and a strong focus on wellbeing, it’s clear why this AX Hotels property is taking Malta by storm. Perfect for a spa weekend or a stay that balances wellness with exploring beautiful Malta, Verdala is a standout choice.
Hotel Visit Iniala House Valletta Malta – Hayley Backley

Exceptional Fine Dining at ION Harbour
Located on the seafront on the fourth floor of Iniala Harbour House, ION Harbour offers an intimate dining experience with breathtaking harbour views. We were lucky enough to experience the 9-course Short Tasting Menu with wine pairings, featuring beautifully crafted, flavourful dishes rooted in a farm-to-table philosophy using local Maltese ingredients.
The kitchen is led by Chef Simon Rogan, with Resident Chef Christian Cali delivering a creative and refined menu that highlights local producers. The wine pairings were outstanding, changing with each course and ranging from elegant sparkling wines to whites, reds, and even an orange wine. The wine list itself is impressive, with around 500 labels.
Service was impeccably timed, friendly, and professional, and the ambience made it ideal for both an intimate dinner and a small group celebration. A truly memorable Michelin-starred experience and a must-visit in Malta.
Valletta – Karen Brooks

Valletta is a city where history meets everyday life. Walking its streets feels like stepping into the past, with St John’s Co‑Cathedral, the Upper Barrakka Gardens, cafés, and bakeries all woven together.
Exploring the underground tunnels was a standout moment cool, quiet, and full of stories from wartime shelters to hidden passageways.
We grabbed lunch at Café Cordina, Malta’s oldest coffee house, and couldn’t resist the pastries in its beautiful historic setting.
The day ended with a drink at The Pub, famously Oliver Reed’s final stop a fitting place to toast an unforgettable day in Valletta.
Final Malta thoughts

Malta proved to be a destination that truly had something for everyone. From its rich history and stunning architecture, the island offered a perfect blend of culture, adventure, and relaxation. Each team member found their own highlight, making the trip not just memorable, but genuinely meaningful. Malta didn’t just meet expectations it exceeded them.
